Cardinal Sebastio Leme da Silveira Cintra, Roman Catholic Archbishop Carlos Duarte Costa resigned from the Holy see in 1937; His Beatitude Patriarch Castillo Mendez founded by decree the first autonomous Catholic Society from ICAB in Brazil to be known as the Society of Pope Leo XIII – United Kingdom which uses the Tridentine Rite and pays particular attention to the rites and rubrics of the pre Vatican II.
His Beatitude; Patriarch Luis Fernando Castillo Mendez founded SPLXIII-UK as the Patriarch of the United Kingdom Church worldwide. SPLXIII has churches in Australia, Central/ West Africa, India, Korea, and Italy.
SOCIETY OF POPE LEO XIII AUTONOMOUS FROM IGREJA CATOLICA APOSTOLICA BRASILEIRA AS GRANTED BY HIS BEATITUDE; PATRIARCH CASTILLO MENDEZ.
The Society of Pope Leo XIII was directly responsible and answerable to His Beatitude; Patriarch Luis Fernando Castillo Mendez and is not in any way answerable to the new regime of the Brazilian Council that took over in MID 2007 known as the President of ICAB in Brazil; upon His Beatitude; Patriarch Mendez being appointed Honorary Patriarch of ICAB in Brazil.
The Society of Pope Leo XIII World wide always held under the law His Beatitude; Patriarch Luis Fernando Castillo Mendez as the Patriarch and that His Beatitude acknowledged SPLXIII as his Tridentine church founded by him in 2005 as per His Beatitude's biography written in early 2005 called the Igreja Catolica Nacionais. Since SPLXIII broke with ICAB in Brazil in late 2007 over doctrinal issues and the take over of the new regime which the SPLXIII College of Bishops hold extremely close in regards to the correct rites to be used for which is the Tridentine Mass and the Pre Vatican II rites and rubrics. ICAB UK is growing in strength.
On the 21st October in the year of our Lord 2009, a delegation involving the Archbishop of London; The Most Reverend David Bell, Archbishop of Swansea “Metropolitan”; The Most Reverend John Carroll and the Bishop of Strathclyde; Bishop Brian Dineley; Vicar General paid a 3 years visit to meet with His Beatitude; Patriarch Mendez; Patriarch of SPLXIII and now honorary Patriarch of ICAB in Brazil to report the news of the SPLXIII Worldwide and to seek his continuous blessing. We are pleased to announce that His Beatitude was most pleased with the work done by the Society of Pope Leo XIII and reconfirmed his full support.
The United Kingdom delegation attended Rio de Janerio to the Cathedral ofSenora Menina where the tomb of the late Roman Catholic Archbishop Carlos Duarte Costa is entombed, the United Kingdom delegation liaised with two days of talks with the new regime with Bishop Josivaldo ”President” & Bishop Wagner “Chancellor”.
On Sunday the 25th October 2009, the delegation celebrated Mass in the Cathedral. However, due to the doctrinal & liturgical differences held by the Society of Pope Leo XIII, it was deemed impossible by the SPLXIII delegation to enter communion with ICAB in Brazil.
The delegation of SPLXIII left the Cathedral in Rio de Janerio with broken down talks, the UK delegation refused to compromise on the liturgy and rubrics despite the ICAB President wished for SPLXIII to sign the communion agreement, the meeting urged of desperatisation from ICAB who has got smaller over the past two years under the new regime. SPLXIII delegation of Bishops returned to meet for the final departure with His Beatitude; Patriarch Castillo Mendez.
IMPORTANT DOCTRINAL NEWS:
The new regime of the Igreja Catolica Apostolica Brasileira in Brazil since 2007 has continued to consecrate bishops. However; the consecrations have conditions attached which means that the bishop consecrated has no authority to consecrate as this has to be done solely by the new regime at the expense of the international church. We have been informed that most of these conditions have been attached to the United States of America Churches. We feel obliged to inform the catholic faithful and the catholic clergy to be made aware that if you seek orders by one of these bishops who are bishops in name only then you must seek re-address.
If the bishop claims apostolic succession as from 2007 onwards by ICAB in Brazil there will be restricted conditions attached.
